The recent Adaptation Plan co-creation workshop

Adaptation Plan Workshop

On the  5th April 2022 the Slapton Line Partnership met online for our first Adaptation Plan co-creation workshop to form a structure of the plan to help local communities around Slapton Line adapt to the changing coastline.

Objectives for the day:

  • develop elements of, and an emerging structure for, the Adaptation Plan
  • identify some key goals and priorities for action in any scenario where the road is closed/lost
  • identify some actions that could be undertaken ‘now’ (with low risk of redundancy and high added value) to help address problems or grasp opportunities
  • consider how the partnership will need to be able to work in future
  • agree the way forward

Agenda for the day

1000 WORKSHOP START

  • Welcome, introductions, review the day and all practicalities

  • Context setting and objectives for today: Agree scope and intention for the workshop

  • Adaptation Planning Round 1: Mapping issues/problems and opportunities

Working under broad headings, in smaller groups and plenary, we will build a common picture of what would need our attention and action in any scenario where the road is closed/lost

1215-30 Lunch (approximate timing)

  • Adaptation Planning Round 2: Priorities, Goals and Actions

Reviewing progress, identifying priorities and for each of them, asking ourselves ‘What would we aim to achieve? What would we need to have in place? What decisions and actions would we need to take and when?’

  • Ways of working together going forward

In the time available, we’ll consider how the Partnership will need to be able to work in any scenario where the road is closed/lost

  • Next steps, dates, and actions

Aiming to leave with common understanding about how the plan will be further developed and implemented from this point
