Update 17 on the Environment Agency's work in Torcross
Torcross sea defence repair 20-03-17
The Environment Agency has been working to complete a repair to stabilise the existing flood defence in Torcross since November 2016. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and assistance during our work.
How is the work progressing?
The main repair work is complete. We are still carrying out small scale repair work to the existing sea defence. We are also starting to remove our compound and equipment from the car park.
What hours will you work?
We will continue to work on an 11-day cycle. Our current cycle started on the 13 March 2017 and is due to finish on 23 March. Standard working hours will be 07:30-18:00. Working hours are displayed on the notice board by the public toilet.
When will you be finished?
We aim to finish work in Torcross on 31 March 2017, with the car park cleared and returned to normal. This is very weather dependent; we need relatively dry weather to apply resin to the existing capping beam. We are constantly monitoring the weather to make best use of the working opportunities that arise.
When will the car park be open?
We have scaled down our work and reopened a large proportion of the car park already to help ease any parking issues. The rest of the car park is due to be reopened by the end of March 2017.
Will the Slipway need to close?
We plan to reclose the slipway from Tuesday 21 March until Friday 24 March 2017 at the latest. This is necessary to carry out a final modification to the new concrete at the toe of the ramp. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. We will open all other access routes onto the beach prior to closing the slipway.
